Peer Partner/ Peers in Action

I can truly say that becoming a peer partner has been one of my proudest decisions of high school. I got involved with Peers through my sister. While she was a peer partner I remember thinking how astounding all the students were and how much they enjoyed being around their peers. So without hesitation I signed up for peer partners and peers in action my freshman year. I am so glad I chose to join this club. Each and every single student in the special education classrooms is different in their own unique way. Being a peer partner has changed my life forever.

them grow, my favorite times to spend with them is out of the classroom. Peers in Action is a whole new club. We try to take the kids out of town fieldtrips so that they get to see a different scenery. It fascinates me how excited the students are when we go to Bloomington for their annual Christmas shopping trip. It is just a trip to Bloomington isn't it? A simple 35 minute drive I usually make once a week? For them it is so much more. Another Peers in Action trip we take is to my Grandpa�s farm. The organization has been doing this for 4 years now and what we do is take them on a hayrack ride, carve pumpkins, and have a cookout. It is so neat to be able to organize one of the monthly activities and I plan on attending this event long after I graduate. They do not get to get of Pontiac a lot and Peers in Action allows me to be able to be a part of when they do.
