A few years ago, some Major League baseball players used Performance Enhancing Drugs to increase productivity on the field. The short-term result helped player's statistics and decrease recover times from injuries. In the steroid era, in baseball, the number of home runs, averages, and performance increased. The awareness helps people look back and realize how unfair of an advantage it was. The players were essentially putting up numbers unrealistic to other numbers before steroids existed.

The long time effects on using performance-enhancing drugs are not good. The psychiatric problems, which includes steroid rage is an issue with users. A study by Dr. Charles E. Yesalis stated that individuals experience mental disturbances severe enough to result in clinical treatment and medical case reports (Steriods, n.d) .
