other authority figures on matters of curfew, class attendance, personal affairs or eating habits. Mature, responsible students tend to make conscientious choices about choosing worthwhile courses, getting sufficient sleep to attend their scheduled classes, managing their personal affairs and finances, and eating a healthful diet. Immature, irresponsible students are much more likely to choose the easiest classes, or to select classes purely based on their afternoon hours in order to sleep late. Similarly, they tend to stay out much too late during the week to attend their morning classes and they squander whatever money their parents generously provide on frivolous expenses, and rather than eating a reasonably well balanced diet, they subsist on fast foods and junk food, which accounts for the ubiquitous phenomenon commonly referred to as "the freshman twenty", especially among female first-year students.
