Quantum Foam - Term Paper

Quantum Foam

The term quantum foam was derived in order to create an understanding for our surroundings, space. Quantum foam may arguably be the particle, or lack thereof, which fills all of spaces holes, including the theories involved with space along with other necessities. Along with all ideas that attempt to explain our complex universe comes a flood of not only necessities but theories unified with this new idea; quantum foam was not excluded from this pattern ranging from being responsible for the smooth appearance of space to black holes growing at an irregular rate. We as humans have always been fascinated with the stars, because they are so visible, as we are advancing more and more of ...

of space-time bending based on mass, much like a field. Quantum mechanics deals with the same topic but replacing Einsteins field with particles or waves, allowing space to be a field from which particles/waves spring from. Some may question if two theories are already semi-legitimate and respected on the same topic, why attempt to introduce a third? Both relativistic gravity and quantum mechanics leave room for questions, such as explaining why and how masses seem to appear and disappear in different parts of the universe. Quantum foam is more apparent on a smaller scale on a scale such as?10?^(-33), at this scale we can see what space looks like. Wheeler believed that at this scale space becomes foamy, changing its geometric shape/structure/texture. On a larger scale space appears smooth allowing for beginnings for plants, starts, etc.; however, at a smaller scale the foam becomes more evident due to the continual existence and non-existence of quantum elements. Based on ...
