Introduction

Philosophy must be one of the most aggravating, inconclusive, drawn-out sciences known to mankind. So many questions and opinions; nothing is known for certain because everything is questioned constantly. Writing an essay, let alone picking a belief is extremely difficult because everything is always changed or contradicted to the point where one starts believing something that turns out to be the complete opposite of what was originally thought. By trying to cut through the chaos and uncertainty I've come to a sound (most likely temporary) method above all others of which to try and obtain true knowledge: rationalism. can acquire. Rationalism requires trusting your mind over anything else, because if you can't trust your own thoughts, what can you trust? If something alters your thoughts such as a mental illness, that may constitute an exception, but in general your thoughts are the most reliable source for true information. Take that you just met someone; a stranger. They ask you to go with them out to their car and drive somewhere. From sensory experience there is absolutely nothing sketchy about this situation. The conclusion cannot be drawn from these types of experiences. The only thing saving you from potentially getting kidnapped is your rational thought telling you that this is a dangerous situation. Another good example is God/a higher power. Logically we know that there was something before us. Whether it was the chicken or the egg, we'll never know. But to recognize this we use our logic.
