Red Flag

People listen to about 19.54 songs a day. The songs are all inspired by some factor. Songwriters are often inspired by the world around them. For example, Billy Talent finds his inspiration from day to day troubles. One of his songs, Red Flag, was inspired by the problems given to children by the older generations. He saw that the younger generation was given the troubles to fix. In response to this inspiration, this song had a cultural lens because of the differences between generations and numerous textual lenses of similes and symbolism.

are both positive and negative. The song says, "Well I've never seen us act like this, our only hope is the minds of kids". Billy Talent intends to state that no one seems to be able to control the situation, and so it is going to get progressively worse. In the future, people are going to have to live with the results of the mistakes. The future is the youth, and they have to try to fix it. Although, the youth is also negative because it states, "Our only weapons are the guns of youth, its only time before they tighten the noose, and then the hunt will be on for you". As time goes on, the generations are becoming more violent. Billy Talent thinks that since the youth are in charge of saving the society they are going to get angry and have the "elders" pay for their mistakes. Overall, the cultural lens of age is very established.
