Although, Judaism believes in human existence after death, its primary focus is on life in the here and now. Therefore, there is not much dogma concerning the afterlife found in Judaism, thus, creating ample room for personal opinion.[1] Some scholars claim that it was late in Jewish history before the belief in the afterlife came into teaching. However, the Torah clearly indicates the belief in the existence of the afterlife, with emphasis on "concrete, physical rewards and punishments rather than abstract future ones...the righteous will be reunited with their loved ones after death, while the wicked will be excluded from this union."[2]
