After watching my daughter work through her first two years of university, I realized that there is a great deal of waste in the university system in the United States. As an art major with a minor in Psychology, she has been required to take two physical education courses, three history courses, a math course, and a few other "gen ed" courses. These "required" courses have taken nearly two thirds of the two years and the courses that she will actually use in her life once she graduates have been minimal.
