Have you ever wanted to get revenge on someone for doing something that you didn't like? Everyone does from time to time. Revenge plays a major role in the story, "The Crucible." Due to the social structures of society and the confusion that existed upon the townspeople, and because of the dancing in the forest by the teenage girls that lived in town, it was very easy for the townspeople to believe that witchery was the cause for all of this confusion.

People took matters into their own hands. This led to even more conflicts between men in the town, which then led to more accusations and victims of the ongoing trials. With so much confusion present the truth became anybody's guess.
Revenge was placed upon enemies when the girls learned the powers they had through the court. Abigail had been out to get Elizabeth Proctor from the get go, and now her window of opportunity showed its face. "You drank a charm to kill goody Proctor" (19). This shows Abigail's ambitions of getting rid of Elizabeth so that she can have John to herself. Abigail was fixated upon John Proctor.
