Already the poem introduces the perfect eerie setting of death in collaboration with the road running along a body of water. Large bodies of water are responsible for the fogs that drench the roads with blankets of fluff obscuring our eyes to see far enough for a safe drive. Although this road killing is tragic, the deer has got to go.
