Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on 20 November 1925, to a distinguished Boston-area family--the smallest, shiest, and most inarticulate of the Kennedy sons--Bobby Kennedy was faced with high and often contradictory expectations. In reaction, he emerged as a combative, tenacious, and sometimes acerbic personality, an overachiever zealously and energetically dedicated to his chosen causes.

Kennedy, appalled by the violence and corruption associated with this Mafia-related activity, relentlessly fought a virtual war against that criminal element, focusing on corrupt Teamster Union presidents David Beck and Jimmy Hoffa.
