Same Sex Marriage and the effects of Divorce on Children

17 percent of gay partnerships ended in divorce compared with 46 percent of the straight relationships. Although heterosexual marriages are much more likely to end in divorce, the fact that both marriages are capable of the same things gives us evidence that they should be treated and compared the same. Another similarity between heterosexual and homosexual couples is the idea of children. Obviously studies clearly show that heterosexual marriages are much more likely to have children, then homosexual couples, however the fact of the matter is that both types of couples do have children. In both cases divorce has major effects on children of the divorced couples. The stresses of divorce can be hard on everybody involved, but in many instances it is the child(ren) who suffer(s) the greatest emotional detriment.
