The documentation of images tends to be more precise and richer than literature, even so we must acknowledge the expressive and imaginative quality that the artist would have put into his work and is sharing with us.

When the majority of people look at a work of art their perspective on the subject is limited by a series of learnt assumption regarding beauty, truth, genius form status, taste and so on. We refer to these as assumptions because the real world is more than subjective facts it is also made up of consciousness. Our fear of the present leads us to mystify the past.
