Reason 2: Many adults aren’t responsible with their Guns

In 2015, three days after Christmas, the four-year-old son of an Alaska state trooper accidentally shot himself with his father gun. “He had just returned home from sledding and was playing by himself in the living room. His mom and grandmother were not far away, in the kitchen. The gun went off and killed William.” (Washington Post)

In 2016, 141 kids were killed in accidental shootings just like William’s. (everytownresearch.org). They were able to get the guns because their parents didn’t lock them up and because they kept them loaded and weren’t careful about keeping them away from their kids.
