In 1969, the first man stepped on the moon. Since then, the United States of America did and are still doing a lots of research in space. Recently, NASA sent a craft called Mars Polar Lander also known as a robot to reach the surface of the planet Mars. This robot was worth 145 million dollar and it is the most recent loss of a spacecraft. To begin this mission NASA needed human wealth and energy. Are efforts to explore space a waste of money and time and would these not be better used here on Earth where humans do not have enough food, medicine and basic education? With all these needs one day man will be able to be more competitive and will have more energy to dedicate him self for those space research. If there is no concentration for space research it wont be bad as if we do not take care of humanity. All these achievements of being able to search and go into space is done by a man for a man. The only thing which is left to be done is to keep this man fulfilled with all his needs so that way he can be successful for anything in life. A big part of the money invested into these projects comes from tax payers. Investing so much and not getting any immediate and useful results is not what's best for us.
