Sacrifices and offerings were made with prayer to appease the gods into favoring them. The gods the ns probably prayed and sacrificed most often were: Zeus, Athena, and Hades.
Zeus was the king of the gods on Mount Olympus (where they were said to have lived) he was very powerful and was associated with thunder and lightning.
