INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the topic "Can we sacrifice a few lives to save millions?" Specifically, it will look at the moral dilemma facing a senior administrator at a drug company, who discovers the successful new drug they developed can cause cancer in one case in a million. "Will you tell your researcher to keep quiet about this new test result?"

Personally, the developer may face recrimination, but the results of only one case in a million seem so slight that any blame would probably not be nearly as heavy as if they had not disclosed the test results. Personal recrimination should not be a deterrent in disclosing the results, in fact, it should be the last thing the developer thinks about when deciding whether to disclose the results or not.
In conclusion, it seems that pharmaceutical consumers today are fairly educated and perceptive, and expect some kind of side effects from drugs.
