Starbucks has is to make all of their cups recyclable by 2015. They are slowing working towards this goal and a major test of this was this summer in Chicago, Illinois. Eighty-nine different Starbucks stores in and around Chicago participated and put recycling bins in, outside, and around their stores. The customer as usual would come in, order a Starbucks beverage, and after they were done would place their cup in one of the many recycling bins. The employees would then go and empty the bins, trucks would come to pick up the recycling and all of these cups were turned into Starbucks napkins. Another element to this green policy is the Earth Sleeve. The Earth Sleeve is a cover for hot-cups of coffee and is made up of fewer raw materials. Because of this close to 100,000 trees a year have been saved. The last major factor to this green policy is reusable cups.
