After making pact after pact leading up to the last one Joey and Rusty didn�t know what best friend they really were. The book Swear to Howdy, written by Wendelin Van Draanen, is thrilling and, interesting. Swear to Howdy is a story about two best friends who always had each other�s back and found out what a real best friend is. Van Draanen uses figurative language to develop the story in Swear to Howdy. The main characters are Joey who is adventures. Rusty who always had Joeys back. And the two sisters Amanda Jane and Jenna Mae.

114).That proves that Rusty is caring and cares about his buddy. Also the quote, �The first time I saw him with it, it scared me a little�� (pg. 38). This also proves that Rusty is more careful because his dad had warned to do when he saw somebody with a gun. All of it proves that Rusty is careful and caring.

The two sisters are very much alike they do the same things and almost act the same. When Rusty introduces Amanda June he says �you can`t call her Amanda June or she would bite your head clean of �, (pg. 10). It shows Amanda`s attitude. Also it shows how she is bossy and and always gets what she wants. And when Rust talks about his sister Jenna Mae he said �and sissy spent half her time crying and the other half shouting nasty stuff at us� (pg.119). That also proves she has a bad attitude. The two facts and commentaries prove that they are mostly the same in the attitude. But they are also mean.
