In the later half of the twentieth century change has been very rapid, therefore there are many differences between the 1950s and the 1990s. However, there are also some similarities. In the area of family roles we have seen many changes which have occurred, Such as women becoming educated. In the 1950s more women were becoming educated, although the majority of women used colleges and universities as a shortcut to finding husbands, they would then quit school and help their newfound husbands acquire a better education in order to support them both and their children.
