The couple proceeded to leave; the rage on his face more than apparent. He walked ahead, allowing the door to close behide him, almost as if he had been in the restaurant alone. This felt worse than slap to her face. Her eyes seemed to focus on each step as she followed her companion out of the restaurant. She gave one last panoramic gaze behide her, hoping that no one saw the inconsiderate actions of her husband. Her face seemed to drag the floor upon her exit.

brown eyes, then through the passenger side window. I could see his frustration as he pounded the steering wheel with his fist. Her eyes met mine. My heart filled with sympathy and pain for her. I couldn't bear to watch any more. When we left, I almost felt as if I were abandoning her.

On our way home we stopped at a small coffee shop for a cup of coffee. Among other things, we talked for a while about what we had seen at the restaurant. It seemed to us that the wife had tried as hard as she could to hold on to her marriage. Our thoughts were interrupted by a loud rumble in the distance. As minutes passed then we heard sirens. Initially we tried to avoid the chaos of what was happening outside, but our curiosity got the best of our human nature.
