One of the main functions of interest groups is lobbying. Lobbying is any activity of an interest group that seeks to influence legislation or to convince a politician to support the aims of that particular group. Interest groups also engage in protest activities in which members that are particularly devoted stage formal protests such as marches, sit-ins, and parades. Interest groups also give valuable endorsements to political candidates who support the position of the group.
