The Awakening

Edna Pontellier is a 28 year old woman who is unhappy with her life. The summer when she met her soul mate Robert, was the one that lead to her realizing how unhappy she was. She realized that she does not love back her devoted husband Leonce, nor does she love her two beautiful children, Etienne and Raoul, nearly as much as she should, and she feels trapped living a life that is not the one she wants. Her life has no meaning without Robert and when he leaves her all alone to face her problems, she falls apart. She is sad and feels desperate.
