The Body is a novella written by Stephen King that was published in 1982, which is based off of events in King�s own childhood. The story is centered around four middle school boys named Vern, Chris, Gordon, and Teddy, who live in Castle Rock, Maine, in 1960, with Gordon being the narrator.After hearing rumors about the sighting of the dead body of Ray Brower, a teenage boy from the Chamberlain, approximately 40 miles east of Castle Rock, the four boys decide to take on an adventure of discovering his body and reporting it to authorities so they can gain fame. The boys show a lot of immaturity in the beginning, and lack anything in that description.. They turn tiny arguments and disagreements that occur during their blackjack games into big deals because each didn�t get what they wanted, and they try to make up new rules or alter some on the spot in order to get their way. Often, in other situations, just end up paying each other some loose change they would have used in their next blackjack game to get immaterial things that they desired from one another. The change from that to one of maturity and can be seen immediately in the beginning of the novella, as that first chapter is regressive and speaks of Gordon�s outlook on the events after they took place before actually telling them.
