Industry thrives on a sustainable source of raw materials and the recent boom in Macedonia and the struggle to compete has placed a strain on the nation's natural resources. Without natural resources and raw materials, industry cannot survive. Macedonia must find a way to increase their industry so that the people can meet their immediate needs, yet they must do it in a way that does not strain the environment to the point of extinction. It is difficult for Macedonians to think about providing for themselves for the long-term future, when their immediate basic needs are not being met. This is a perplexing issue and this research will explore it from the standpoint of three famous philosophers, Durkheim, Mead and Marx.

economy. After a higher degree of specialization was reached, Durkheim would expect the needs of industry and environment to balance out, just as they do in a highly developed organism. Durkheim would solve the needs of Macedonia through pushing for more, highly specialized industrialization. He would move the country from an agricultural economy to an industrial one through whatever social measures were necessary to accomplish this.
