The Philosophy Of Life According To Macbeth



In the tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is perceived as a man of vision; yet, he goes through times in his life where he has grown to be accustomed to insanity. Macbeth's life is based around one philosophy that he has come to create in his mind (after enduring the two most major tragedies im his life), the loss of his wife, and when Birnam Wood advances on Dunsinane, which in turn caused his world to fall apart. Although he thinks life is insignificant, he still fights on.

The loss of lady Macbeth must have had an enormous impact on his way of thinking. Lady Macbeth died, apparently, due to her insanity. Macbeth loses his wife, and all he has is as kingdom to rule (tyrannically), with no one by his side. In a way, he did not believe that her life should have been extinguished. That is a factor in his philosophy, that life is short and time is of essence.
Another reason for Macbeth's unique and uncanny philosophy, is that he knew that his time was coming when Birnam Woods (soldiers in camouflage) started to advance on his kingdom. This too, had a great effect on him. When he sees that Birnam Woods is advancing on his castle, he starts to get scared.
