The final product of writing-> still the concern of writing teachers, but we began to develop what is now termed the process approach to writing instruction. The current emphasis on process writing must of course be seen in the perspective of a balance between process and product.

The process approach is an attempt to take advantage of the nature of the written code to give students a chance to think as they write. Another way of putting it is that writing is indeed a thinking process.
