Dress Codes. Something that has been a debate for a long time. But Why? What�s the big deal about what someone looks like? Besides, what a person wears is a way to express him or herself. Therefore it�s a part of freedom of speech, a freedom granted to all citizens by the 1st Amendment. This is just one of the many reasons why students should be able to dress almost any way they want to in school.
Expression of one�s self is very important in all of our lives. Lots of us want to color our hair green or blue and get showing body piercings and tattoos. Many schools all over the country allow this type of fashion in their classrooms and they have very few problems associated with it. ...

Numerous students would also like to wear shirts and other clothing related to Satan. Worshipping Satan is just another form of religion, just like worshipping God. Yet students are not allowed to wear clothing involving Satan, Hell, or death. That is an unconstitutional rule though as the freedom of religion is guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution. People are allowed to wear clothes referring to God, Jesus, and the Holy Bible. Why not Satan and other things related to Satanism?
The content that should be allowed on shirts has also been a conflict between students and the faculty. Us students are not allowed to wear anything having to do with alcohol or any other drug. What reason do teachers and other Lake staff actually have for this rule though? At age 13, 14, 15, and older, not very many people are going to be influenced to take drugs just by seeing a marijuana T-shirt worn by a fellow classmate. All students ...
