There was a time, when women weren�t allowed to vote, when leading universities like Cambri�d-ge and Harvard didn�t give them equal status and when their main role was to be a homemaker.

But as the statistic information shows, in most of west and Europe countries situation has chang-ed and women have gained much economic, educational, social and political opportunities at the end of the 20th century which were not available to them in the 19th century. For example more than 40% of the members of the Swedish Parliament are women. In the Spanish Cabinet there are more women than men. in all the countries where the lot of wom�en has improved so dramatically, the political system is democratic. In my opinion democra�tic style of leadership is the main reason, why women in west and Europe countries have gained the leading positions in everyday life. When is free choice, every citizen has access to the same level of service, and the artificial barriers that disadvantage some part of society automatically ta�ke apart. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom to choose one�s profession, all articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, are only possible in a democracy.
