No matter what anybody says to you, don’t let ‘em get your goat’” (Lee 101). Here, Atticus contributes to the “good” in the book by setting more positive examples. Although Atticus does makes up a good portion of the “good” in this book, there are some bad and/or evil examples present as well.
Some of the evil and injustice in To Kill a Mockingbird comes from the trial of Tom Robinson. The racism and unfairness of Tom’s trial really points out the negativity in this book. “‘The one place where a man ought to get a square deal is in a courtroom, be he any color of the rainbow, but people have a way of carrying their resentments’” (Lee 295).
