Theodore Roosevelt was the father of six children Theodore Roosevelt was the 26 th President of the United States, he was also an assemblyman of New York, and the governor that same state. Roosevelt was also a deputy sheriff of the Dakota Territory, a New York police commissioner, and U.S. civil service commissioner, assistant secretary of the Navy, and Colonel of the rough Riders.
