In �To Build a Fire� Jack London writes about a mans travels through Yukon, Canada. The story starts off with displaying the setting we know that he is climbing the snowy, freezing trail in Yukon with his dog. They were climbing the trail through about -60 (or more) degrees, it seemed harmless to him and was just going to hike around then go back and hang out with �the boys�. But unfortunately thats not the way it ended. It was getting so cold out the his spit/tobacco was freezing mild air. He tried every way to stay warm, he would rube his cheek to try to prevent frost bite but that didn't seem to be working, then he tried to start a fire but his hands were so cold and numb the he ...

a partner once it was -50 degrees. He didn't want to just give up though he knew that despite his frozen fingers that he had to start this fire or else he would die. In my opinion the reason why I think he didn't fallow the old timers advise is because I think he wanted to challenge him, prove to him that he could survive in the worst type of conditions.

London was trying to explain through the dog that something bad was going to be happening. Also he expresses the dogs emotions, showing that dog have a keen sense for whats right and whats wrong.
