The one vaccine that is required by law is Rabies. Areas with a high incidence of rabies may require that domestic animals be vaccinated every year. Others may feel that once every three years is sufficient. There can also be discrepancies between veterinary offices, some prefer to vaccinate every year for rabies and others will use the every three year course.

Vaccines must be administered properly to assure effectiveness. Most should not be administered to animals under 6 weeks of age, pregnant or nursing animals or those with a compromised immune system.
