Rhythm and blues is what it's called, but often times it is abbreviated as R&B. R&B is the genre of music that makes you feel better when you're going through breakups or mishaps in a relationship. It has a softer feel and a slower beat so that the listener can relate to the singer. R&B music was created so that you can basically live vicariously through the singer's emotions because they are singing what you feel, and that makes you feel better. Usually this genre of music attracts more of a feminine audience due to the fact of the constant depressing songs. R&B can make you happy, or sad, but it helps you get through whatever you're going through in life.
