Many economists would argue that the chairman of the Federal Reserve is the second most important person in the United States and some will argue that he is the most important. Although, economic theory or more particularly the Federal Reserve is talked today about more frequently and among many more individuals, I am amazed how little people know about the Federal Reserve (including myself).
To help understand the reason for the Federal Reserve one must understand the events prior to its inception. There have been two prior attempts of a central bank in America, both lasting for terms of twenty years. But I think we need to look a little further back to understand the reasoning for a central bank.
