Technology has evolved beyond our imaginations. The breakthroughs of today are but dreams of the past. Some items we used to dream about or see in movies are now a reality. Items such as television, telephones, microwaves and video games, are just a few of the technological breakthroughs and advancements. The long term effects of video games must be examined. Video games have a tremendous impact on our children, families, and society a whole.

As a result of playing video games over long a period of time, the person looks as if they have entered a drug induced state. Furthermore, gamers do react differently and are changed; whether the effect is only temporary or long term the results are the same. It is critical the amount of time gamers spend playing video games is limited.
A gamers level of respect towards peers and adults changes. The gamer takes the language that is used in the game and applies it while participating in conversations. His or her attitudes become exceedingly defensive, rebellious, and emotional. After not having played a video game for a while, the gamer shares the symptoms similar to that of a person going through drug withdrawals. He or she tends to get angry, nervous, anxious, and can suffer attention deficit. This behavior is inappropriate!
