The war on drugs has been an important fight in the United States for a long time now, and to this day, it's one of the top reasons people are incarcerated for the crime of illegal drug use. In a TED talk video, a man named Nathan Nadlemann spoke extensively on the hypocrisy of the drug war and how unreasoning it was to keep these substances illegal (Nadlemann). Although the regulations and laws don't stop drug dealers and abusers in obtaining it, in an ideal world, the strict regulations of these psychoactive drugs decrease the chances of overdosing greatly.
