When did World War One become inevitable?

World War One was a war in 1914 to 1918. It was fought between the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. Franz Ferdinand, the Archduke of Austria was assassinated by the Black Hand, and a month later, Austria-Hungry declared war on Serbia. The war divided Europe into two camps, the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy) and the Triple Entente (France, Russia and Great Britain). I am going to argue it was the ultimatum sent by Austria to Serbia that was the point where World War One became inevitable.

created their own `Dreadnoughts' in competition. This was part of the Anglo-German arms race, where both armies would try and be supreme over the other by have a bigger fleet. The building of these ships coincided with the Military Spending Increase, which took part from 1900 to 1913. This was where the militaries spent much more to increase their power. The Triple Alliance had, in total, increased their spending by 318% and the Triple Entente had increased theirs by 228%. This ties into the building of the Dreadnoughts and the Arms race. The two camps would not have wanted to spend colossal amounts of money and then waste it, if they were not willing to go to war. This would mean a great waste of money which the country may not be able to afford.
