When is Sports Parenting Going Too Far?
Many parents love to see their kids participate in sports, but most of them do not understand when sports parenting becomes ridiculous. Sometimes parents forget that sports are about having fun and making friends, rather than winning and becoming a star. Parents can also lower a child's self-esteem and will to play with their blasphemous behavior. In recent years there have been many studies and stories on how parents conduct themselves during a children's sporting event. A great sports parent never starts trouble even if they do not agree with a particular call or subject. The model parent stands behind decisions the coach makes in regards to their players (as long as the decision is fair and just), if there is a disciplinary issue ("10 Types," n.d). Every sports parent should strive to be like the model parent. If this were the case, sports would be much more fun, and not as stressful for the young people that play them.
