Zeus The Great One

In the Odyssey by Homer, we are introduced to the God Zeus. We can tell that Zeus has great morals and is courageous. Zeus has no relationship with Odysseus but Zeus helps him through his journey. Throughout the story we can learn that Zeus is the gods of the gods. We discover that Zeus impacts Odysseys journey by giving him a helping hand.

Odysseus can be compared to Zeus because they both show leadership qualities and know how to direct. When Odysseys was captured by the Cyclops he made a plan which was to get the Cyclops drunk and stab him in the eye so he could open the door that is being blocked by a huge ...

Zeus had thought of won the war between the Olympians and Titans.

Zeus' feeling towards Odysseus in the Odyssey is indescribable but Zeus does tell Athena that he holds Odysseus in high esteem but Poseidon bears a grudge against him for blinding the Cyclops, Polyphemos. Odysseus saved Helen, Zeus' supposed favorite daughter from Troy. Because of this, Zeus was grateful of Odysseus, as argued by Isocrates in his essay Helen, and therefore would assist him on his journey throughout the Odyssey. Homer says "Hermes flew until the distant island lay ahead, then rising shoreward from the violet ocean he stepped up onto the cave" This event happened when Odysseus was being held captive by Calypso, an evil witch. Zeus had sent Hermes, messenger of the gods to tell Calypso to free Odysseus.
