Scout says, "Hey Mr. Cunningham. How's your entailment gettin' along?...I go to school with Walter...and he does right well. He's a good boy.” (Lee 204). Here, Scout obviously does not realize the severity of the situation. Instead, she somehow has a completely casual conversation with Mr. Cunningham at the most inappropriate of times.
