What is evidence? Evidence in its broadest sense includes everything that is used to determine or demonstrate the truth of an assertion. Giving or procuring evidence is the process of using those things that are either presumed to be true, or were themselves proven via evidence, to demonstrate an assertion's truth. Evidence is the currency by which one fulfills the burden of proof.

Oftentimes, evidence tells a story and helps an investigator recreate the crime scene and establish the sequence of events. the body of the victim. Investigators on the crime scene err on the side of caution when it comes to sending evidence to the crime lab. They want to ensure that nothing important of the evidence is missed. Things like clothing worn by the victim, carpeting, and any biological substances found on site, weapon, insect, and anything unusual will be photographed on site.
