The Benefits of a Vegetarian Diet on the Human Body

In the past, many vegetarian diets have been viewed as weird and faddish. Now, scientists are beginning to realize the actual benefits that this type of lifestyle has on the human body. When appropriately planned, vegetarian/vegan diets can be extremely helpful in lowering the risk of heart disease, cancer, strokes, and obesity.

Reduced risk of heart disease:

� Regular fruit and vegetable consumption lowers the risk of ischemic heart disease, which is caused by lack of blood supply to the heart itself.
� Vegetarianism lowers the risk of contracting heart disease later in life by up to 24 percent.
