Obesity in the United States is at an all time high, but in most recent times the children are the ones suffering the most from this epidemic. The prevalence of obesity in children more than tripled from 1971 to 2011 (heart.org). Many things have changed in years past, the generations now have many distractions that keep their body and minds occupied indoors. They now have video games that let them stay indoors for a long period of time without ever exercising. Without exercise in the lives of children the danger of obesity largely increases. There are many things that lead to becoming obese for a child. Eating unhealthy food can be the number one reason to child obesity and their health. A whopping 30% of children is in United States eat fast food everyday. Eating unhealthy can limit what kind of activities the children can do. This also might lead to diabetes and puts them at risk of cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. These diseases can harm a child's future dramatically if changes are not made with their diet and the time they spend exercising. In the United States child obesity is at an all time high due to the fact that children aren't as active as they used to be, this is creating serious health issues. These health issues can ultimately lead to the death of a child. According to Kathleen Doheny "childhood obesity more than doubles the risk of dying before age 55, according to a new long-term study that followed nearly 5,000 children.
