Arguably the biggest change in the Roman Empire cam with the influence of Christianity. Though it had trouble, Christianity was very successful in spreading throughout the Roman Empire. There are also many reasons why this religion was successful in spreading throughout the roman empire. Coming into contact with other civilizations by means of travel or conquest, helped spread Christianity. Not everyone or every civilization will have the same religion and do the same things. When the roman empire grew in size by conquest, many different religions were introduced to them, with the main one being Christianity. Before Constantine rose to power, Christianity was downright frowned upon. Anyone who followed these customs, got what was coming to them. The Roman Church did not tolerate anything but what was already set in stone. Anyone who came into the church and followed Christianity, would be persecuted immediately. It can be said that Christian worships were early examples of martyrs. They were willing to die for their cause.
In 313 AD, the Emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan. This Edict gave religious tolerance in the Roman Empire. ...
