Blind. Lost. Confused. Needing to make the best decision however uncertain of what that is. The proper path is never the obvious one, it is often disguised or hidden amongst deceivingly similar roads. Though this is a common predicament when it plagues a leader the effects of this decision are often placed on others. For instance, although the three leaders known as Oedipus Rex, Christopher Columbus, and President Snow all believed they were doing what was best for their subjects, the distinctions appeared once they were informed about their erroneous approach to the problem.

it was in his adoptive parents' best interest for him to leave the city, theoretically saving both of their lives and the dignity of the family. Oedipus's goal was never to bring harm to anyone, and he did his best to follow through with that goal. He was honest and open to the truth, once all the facts were presented. He was ashamed of his actions and when he was informed of his wrongdoings, he was willing to accept his punishment no matter the cost.
Unlike Oedipus, Christopher Columbus was a cruel leader who often utilized physical punishment to manage the indigenous people. He led an expedition supported by Spain, with the promise that gold would be found, his greed and need to prove himself made him apathetic and oppressive. He was a tyrant and a liar who refused to allow anyone to intervene with his plans regardless of the expense. So, whereas Oedipus was willing to do what was best for his people at the risk of his reputation; Columbus was only loyal to his home country ...
