Bacon had a receptive attitude toward epistemology, which encouraged him to engage in the nature of knowledge with an emphasis on understanding the acquisition of knowledge. From an empiricist�s view, as was Bacon�s, only from an individual�s sensory experiences can any knowledge be adequately obtained. During medieval times and during the dark ages, people often used what Bacon called, �superstitions,� to explain various things in the world, such as laws of nature and the origin of the world and humanity. However, as the Renaissance evolved, fully understanding the world became a desire of philosophers of the era.
