Whenever death becomes present in the world, life will surely grow and become present also. "The Corn Planting", by Sherwood Anderson, details the life of an elderly couple while their son is away in the big city while they continue to live on the countryside. However, when confronted with the death of their only son, the couple performs an action that is profound in many ways and perspectives.
