Homeostasis is vital to organisms, such as humans, in order to transfer our genetic information to the next generations and so on. As humans our homeostasis is very developed allowing us to reproduce and pass down our genetic information. We have a greater advantage compared to other organisms that also undergo homeostasis. Bernard made the discovery the name now known as homeostasis as an "amazing constancy (p. 842)". He understood that this constancy was internal of organism in order to create stability. It wasn't till 1927 when W. Cannon formerly named this process as homeostasis. For a while it was understood that homeostasis was indeed something that all free life inquired but later on new studies found that not all life undergo homeostasis and therefore not making it the main condition for free life. In 1950 N. Wiener created a model, which included a control with negative feedback to represent an organisms homeostasis. In this model he tested out different level of substances such as blood sugar, oxygen, and hormones and etc. to find the wanted level need internally to be at a stable state. Within the many models he created he realized that the easiest way to get stationarity was solely depended upon the passive control of the arrival of the substance.
