In other words competition creates this type of society in which everybody will do whatever they can in order to be better than another and gain social class, basically meaning that we are run by social hierarchy. Wolff follows by saying that when speaking of morality the "evils of individual competition are obvious", it basically what creates jealousy, hatred and envy. Basically individual competition makes you the enemy of everybody else and vice versa therefor nobody can gain anything without taking advantage of somebody else's loss or discontent. As a result one can deduce that competition whether it is economic or not is encouraged by society, which is seen by many as being morally wrong because it encourages one to do harm to another.
